What is a FTZ?

A Free Trade Zone ( FTZ ) is a specified area within the political borders of a country but considered outside the custom borders, where all types of industrial and commercial activities are encouraged through tax exemptions and incentives with the following objectives:

Increasing export oriented investment and production,
Accelerating the inflow of foreign capital and technology,
Increasing the employment and procuring the economic resources in an effective and efficient   manner by creating a value added input to the economy,
Increasing the utilization of external finance and trade possibilities.


The Council of Ministers of Turkey is authorized to specify through the Free Trade Zone Legislation No. 3218, is authorized to specify and determine the location, the boundaries and activities of Free Trade Zones in Turkey.
